New $100,000 Fund Supports Cultural and Event Tourism in the Region

On May 19, 2026, tourism, arts, culture, municipal, and community leaders gathered at the Art Gallery of Burlington for the official launch of the inaugural OCAF–Incite Foundation Fund Matching Pilot Program.

The event celebrated a new partnership between the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund (OCAF) and the Incite Foundation for the Arts, creating a $100,000 investment pool dedicated to supporting cultural tourism events in Hamilton and Burlington. More than 75 attendees from arts organizations, tourism organizations, municipalities, chambers of commerce, and cultural institutions participated in the announcement, demonstrating strong regional support for arts and cultural tourism development.

The announcement highlighted a growing recognition that arts and culture are important drivers of tourism, economic development, placemaking, and community vitality. Through the pilot partnership, the Incite Foundation matched $50,000 in provincial OCAF funding, resulting in $100,000 being invested into six cultural tourism events across Hamilton and Burlington.
